The three main fundraising events for the Friends are their plant sale in May,
a small book sale in August and a much larger book sale in October.
Mother's day weekend 2026, the Friends hosted their annual plant sale, chaired by Elizabeth Lane. Special thanks go out to Elizabeth, and her crew consisting of Bart Drennen, Tammy Charbonneau, Gary Closius, Kay Zak, Taras Kachorowsky, Joel L'Heureux, Jane Wellbrock, Larry Wellbrock, Neurie Tessagrossa, Dan Holle, Cindy Holle and Teri Natoli. Thanks to the hard work of all the volunteers and the people who purchased plants, the Friends raised just over $3.400.00. Next year, Tammy Charbonneau will be chairing this marvelous event.
In August, we held a small book sale in conjunction with the Salem Lions Tag Sale. This year it was held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 on the Zemko Property on Route 85 in Salem. As you're heading north on Route 85, it's between the school and the library, on the right hand side of the road. You can't miss it! This year, the sale raised $946 for the Friends. This money will be used for programs and collections at the library.
Our main fundraising book sale takes place the last weekend in October. It is held in the gymnasium of the Salem School on 200 Hartford Road, Salem, CT. The hours are Friday, 10/30/26 from 7 - 9 PM (Friends members can enter at 6 PM), and Saturday, 10/31/26 from 9 AM to 3 PM. A bag sale begins on Saturday at noon.
